BROOKFIELD A man who has been butting heads for years here with selectmen, municipal employees and other residents by needling them on a large yellow sign outside his business along Route 9, can keep his sign and continue to express his opinions for all passersby to see no matter how unpopular and unflattering his expressed views are.
Last month, U.S. District Court Judge Timothy S. Hillman announced that the civil action involving John D. Holdcraft, plaintiff, and his infamous 8-foot-by-4-foot “Freedom of Speech” sign on 6 South Maple St., and the Town of Brookfield and Town of Brookfield Zoning Board of Appeals, defendants, has been settled.
