Gravitas Ventures has picked up Ali Askari s romantic thriller
As Long As We Both Shall Live, which stars Josh Helman, Yael Stone and Jennifer Allcott.
“Rooted in the layered and tortured performance of Josh Helman, Ali’s film is a haunting thriller that will keep audiences guessing and make them question what is real. We look forward to unveiling the film to North American audiences,” Tony Piantedosi, vp of acquisitions at Gravitas Ventures, said in a statement.
A Feb. 26 digital, cable and satellite TV video-on-demand release is planned.
A uniquely Utica film will be hitting video on-demand services this month after a multi-year labor of love.
“As Long As We Both Shall Live,” formerly titled “Falling,” is a romantic thriller from director Ali Askari and stars Josh Helman (Mad Max: Fury Road), Yael Stone (Orange is the New Black) and Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas).
The movie is filmed and set in the city, with notable landmarks such as the Utica Zoo, Utica Coffee Roasting Company and The Tailor and the Cook.
The film follows the story of Malcolm, played by Helman, as he recovers from crippling depression in the wake of his wife’s death. Aided by his sister-in-law and mentor, Malcolm eventually starts dating again and meets Nya, played by Jennifer Allcott.
So what is the movie about?
Malcolm is thrust into depression after his wife, Sarah, tragically dies. When he meets Nya one year later, he finally allows himself to give over to new love. And that s when he starts seeing his dead wife, telling him how abandoned she feels, terrorizing him at every turn. Every time she appears, debilitating headaches cripple him, as well as doubts about his sanity. With the help of his sister-in-law, Dee, and his mentor, Jim, he must reconcile his past with his present in order to forgive himself, mourn properly, hang onto his new love - and not lose his mind in the process.
