Port Washington High School’s prom is scheduled to be held June 27 and “kids who are vaccinated will be able to attend maskless while those who aren’t will need to wear a face covering,” the New York Postreported. Principal Dr. Ira Pernick said students are required to show proof of coronavirus vaccination to attain facial freedom, the paper said. Unvaccinated students will also have to produce a negative coronavirus test in order to participate.

A vaccine clinic at the Southfield High School for the Arts and Technology was supposed to be another convenient way for students to get the shot, but a controversy over prom tickets brought out protesters. “It’s not right to make someone get vaccinated in order to go to prom,” one protester said. Southfield Public Schools superintendent Dr. Jennifer Martin-Green said that’s not the case.

Southfield Regional Academic Campus High School is selling tickets for their prom on June 14th with a interesting scaled ticket pricing. In a posting to the Family Information Page, those students interested in attending the event, to be held at the Roostertail, will have two tickets levels. Those fully vaccinated will be able to attend for free, while those who are not vaccinated will see a $80 ticket price for the big night.
