Milla Jovovich and Dave Bautista will star, with CAA Media Finance arranging the film’s financing and repping its domestic rights, while FilmNation Entertainment kicks off international sales at the upcoming virtual Berlin market. The
Resident Evil movie series, based on the Capcom video game, put a female character (Jovovich) front and center in an action movie.

The story follows a city’s desperate queen who wants to obtain the gift of shapeshifting. She hires sorceress Gray Alys (Jovovich), a witch who grants wishes, no matter how outlandish. The queen then sends Gray Alys to the Lost Lands in the company of the mysterious drifter Boyce (Bautista). Together, they have to “outwit and outfight man and demon in a fable that explores the nature of good and evil, debt and fulfillment, love and loss.”
The producers already announced a previous iteration of the project for the Berlin market six years ago. However, that project never came to life. Now, they still have to announce an official release date for the new version.
