"Are we increasing our plans for security? The answer is no, not because we don't see the need for it, but because our plans have been incredibly robust to begin with for many years," said Dan Dimant, the media director for NYC Pride. Cameron Jay Harrelson, the parade director for Georgia's Athens Pride, said that hosting such events in the deep South has always made organizers "hyper aware and hyper-focused" on safety.
