Multiple rockets were intercepted over central Jerusalem on Friday, AFP journalists reported. Staff saw two explosions and heard three blasts, as sirens warning of incoming fire blared in the city for the first time since October 30, according to the Israeli military. Paramedics rushed to the scene after the alarm was raised in Jerusalem and nearby Beit Shemesh, the Magen David Adom emergency medical services said.

Rina and Maya Zakharan, aged 15 and 20, were shot dead on Friday in an attack on their car in the West Bank.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday announced a series of punitive steps against the Palestinians, in response to a pair of shooting attacks that killed seven Israelis and wounded five others.

A Palestinian boy, aged 13, shot and injured an Israeli man and his adult son in East Jerusalem. The boy was shot and disarmed by bystanders and taken to hospital in handcuffs.

Police said the two explosions were suspected attacks by Palestinians following an uptick in violence in recent weeks.
