COLUMBIA In a pair of pitching duels, William Woods (21-26) survived elimination in the American Midwest Conference Softball Championship with a 1-0 shutout of Columbia College (20-19) after falling 1-0 to Central Baptist College (32-20) on Wednesday.
Four Jefferson City-area graduates were named to the American Midwest Conference softball all-conference team, the league announced Tuesday. Columbia College sophomore Tasia Green and William Woods junior Jessica Keilholz were selected to the all-AMC first team. Columbia College junior Ellie Kliethermes was named to the all-AMC second team and Columbia College sophomore Chesney Luebbering was picked for the all-AMC third team.
COLUMBIA After being swept in the regular season and held to just two runs in each game, No. 6 seed William Woods softball (20-25) finally found its offensive legs against No. 3 seed Williams Baptist (33-16), winning 4-1 in an 11-inning marathon in the American Midwest Conference Tournament first round Tuesday at Antimi Softball Complex.
