Former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren on Friday moved an application before the state's high court, seeking permission to participate in the budget session of the assembly. A special court in Ranchi had earlier denied permission to Soren to take part in the session that got underway on Friday.
India News: A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna, MM Sundresh and Bela Trivedin insisted with Kapil Sibal and AM Singhvi that Soren must move Jharkhand HC for bail. "It has been SC's consistent practice that such petitions must be moved before the HC, which is also a constitutional court and open to one and all," Justice Khanna said.

The Court concluded that the complaint was filed with mala fide intention to wreak vengeance on a lawyer who was defending the complainant’s wife in a matrimonial case.
"Prior to any determination or finding of any irregular or inadmissible availment of input tax credit, attachment of bank account of the petitioner appears to be an 'arm twisting method' to make the petitioner succumb to the particular authority, which cannot be the dictum of the Act," the court said in a ruling on January 15.
The Court quoted Hindu scriptures to emphasise the importance of parents, and added that "even if for the sake of argument, the father earns something; it is pious duty of a son to maintain his old aged father."
