TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Support of the Black Lives Matter movement took to the streets of Terre Haute to spread awareness for change.
As they held signs and chanted different phrases like “Black Lives Matter” and “Breonna Taylor,” demonstrators marched from the Vigo County courthouse to the Terre Haute Police Station on Wabash Avenue.
Change of Terre haute founder Erick Beverely said police reform is just one of the many things he would like to see changed in the community.
“When it comes to police reform we want to see change in that,” said Beverely. “When it comes to our neighborhoods we want to see a change in that. When it comes to our education system, we want to see a change in our schooling. Any way possible we can make some type of change and get involved, we’re willing to do that.”

For Jill Banta, regional coordinator for Mindanao of the Break Free from Plastic (BFFP) PH, living a life with less plastic consumption may seem quite impossible.
But with the rampant environmental issues the world is currently facing, which experts had cited that plastic consumption and its irresponsible disposal had contributed, pushing for a "plastic-free lifestyle" may also be a difficult task.
Banta, who has been working for BFFP-PH for a year now, admitted that lobbying this initiative may sound noble, but it faces a lot of challenges.
February 01, 2021 IN RESPONSE to various calls from different environment groups, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is set to certify the proposed "Single-use Plastic (SUP) Ban" ordinance in the city as urgent.
"We are intent on writing the Sangguniang Panlungsod (City Council) on saying na urgent ang ban of single-use plastic," the mayor said in a radio interview on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio on Monday, February 1, 2020.
She said that she was requested to submit a letter to the council intending to have the proposed ordinance as one of their priority legislative measures to be passed.
The ordinance is still pending with the committee on environment, led by Councilor Diosdado Mahipus Jr.
