A judge said Sheldon Thompson was not under interrogation when he allegedly told an officer that he was "going away for a long time" for the deaths of his pregnant girlfriend and her toddler son.

A rescheduled January date for Brian Shaw will come more than three years after he allegedly shot Kevin Weiss Jr. and two years after he was first set to face a jury.

The plea was the first among the five defendants who have been charged with crimes related to the May shooting death of Juamada Anderson in Duluth's Central Hillside neighborhood.

Brian Shaw, who faces murder and manslaughter charges in the death of Kevin Weiss, will argue that he was acting in defense of himself and others, according to his attorney.
