Each year, the Penny Enroth Award is given to an individual who has contributed greatly to the operation of Kemper Center in its cultural, historical, and recreational role in the Kenosha community and beyond. The award is named after Penny Enroth, a 1958 graduate of Kemper Hall. She, along with a group of other alumnae and civic leaders, led the fight to preserve and keep Kemper Hall and the Durkee Mansion from private development after it closed as a school in 1975. Apr 27th, 2021 From the Kenosha County Department of Public Works & Development Services: With a new road construction season underway, Kenosha County urges drivers to slow down and pay attention in work zones. The week of April 26-30, is Work Zone Safety Awareness Week, as designated by federal, state and local transportation agencies. This year’s theme “Drive Safe. Work Safe. Save Lives.” is a fitting reminder to slow down and give construction crews a brake, said Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser. “All of those orange barrels that we’re starting to see sprouting up along our roadways are a reminder that men and women are at work in these areas, and it’s our duty as drivers to do our part to keep them safe,” Kreuser said. “That means putting down the phones, slowing down to work zone speed limits, and keeping our eyes out to avoid dangerous situations.”

Kenosha County moving COVID-19 vaccine clinic to former Shopko location A former Shopko store location will be used by the Kenosha County Public Health Department to operate their COVID-19 vaccine clinics. Starting Wednesday, March 10, clinics will move from the Kenosha Job Center to 5300 52nd Street in Kenosha. Kenosha County Health Officer Dr. Jen Freiheit says with the ability to increase the number of vaccination stations from 11 to 25 inside the former Shopko store, the new facility will be able to increase their ability to vaccinate people from about 1,000 to around 2,700 per day, pending available supply of the vaccine. “Kenosha County has already been a leader in Wisconsin in delivering the COVID-19 vaccine to residents efficiently and expediently, and this new clinic operation will allow us to take this vital service to the next level,” says Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser. “I look forward to continuing to work with our state and federal partners to bring as m
