Senior Edelweiss officials, accused of abetting the suicide of renowned art director Nitin Desai on Friday submitted to the Bombay High Court that he had started delaying on his loan repayment schedules from the end of 2018.

The Bombay High Court stated that it would hear the pleas of Edelweiss officials against the FIR accusing them of abetting the suicide of film art director Nitin Desai on August 18. The court refused to provide any interim relief to the officials, who had requested protection from any coercive action and the quashing of the FIR.

Edelweiss executives, including Chairman Rashesh Shah, seek quashing of FIR in connection with film art director Nitin Desais suicide.

Art director Nitin Desai was found dead on August 2. An audio note left behind by him blamed Rashesh Bansal and Raj Kumar Shah for his poor financial condition, according to the police.

The police on August 4 registered a criminal case against five persons, including Edelweiss Group chairman Rashesh Shah, for alleged abetment of Desais suicide.

Three representatives of ECL Finance Company/Edelweiss group appeared before the Raigad police in Maharashtra on Tuesday in connection with their inquiry into the alleged suicide of film art director Nitin Desai, an official said.

Nitin Desai, who had defaulted on Rs 185 crore loans taken from a subsidiary of Edelweiss, was found dead at his ND Studio in Khalapur Raigad near Karjat on August 2.
