ILION The union representing 585 laid-off workers at the idled Remington gun plant says the company purchasing the firm out of bankruptcy is trying to go around the bargaining unit by offering jobs “at will” rather than under the existing labor contract.
“We were surprised and disappointed to learn that on December 14, 2020, Mr. Richmond Italia, on behalf of RemArms, mailed an offer of employment directly to the bargaining unit employees at the Ilion, New York facility,” reads part of a letter from United Mine Workers of America lawyer Kevin Fagan to the new owners law firm.
