Much of the focus since Iowa’s second-round ouster in the 2021 NCAA Tournament has been splashed on securing transfers. The Hawkeyes saw a couple of players enter the transfer portal in Jack Nunge and CJ Fredrick, while another - walk-on Austin Ash - joined the portal just to return and be added to the scholarship.
The Hawkeyes strengthen their squad through the portal also, adding North Dakota star Filip Rebraca in a bid to fill some of the empty spaces left by Luka Garza and Jack Nunge. When I set about answering the question on car wrecks in the solicitation for questions this week, it was really intended to be an ice breaker. You know, something to just get us from point A to point B and allow you all a forum to ask questions. I didn’t expect to get so many great stories and quality conversation, but am really glad we did.
However, it does feel like that conversation may have distracted everyone from the asking questions thing (or maybe you’re just bored with me already - fair). We only had a few questions submitted so we’re changing up the format a bit this week and even pulling in one from last week.

On Sunday night, news broke that Iowa Hawkeyes guard CJ Fredrick was entering the transfer portal. Once that news dropped, Hawkeye fans immediately began to accuse Kentucky’s coaching staff of tampering.
However, the fanbase wasn’t the only group taking shots at Kentucky. Even the official Iowa compliance department took a jab, as they sent out a tweet about avoiding contact with players before they enter the portal.
