FRIENDS of a teenager, who was haunted by his mother’s murder and took his own life, have clubbed together pay a fine imposed for holding a balloon release in his memory. Police estimated around 200 young people attended the memorial event held in the wake of Jamie McKitten’s tragic suicide on the railway in Chester-le-Street. It was organised by his good friend Tyler James amid an outpouring of grief after the tragic death of the 17-year-old on March 31. It involved the release of around 1,000 green balloons and green smoke grenades on the football field behind the community in Great Lumley on April 11.
