The Bensenville Park District has scrapped a proposal to sell a significant chunk of White Pines golf course for redevelopment, instead laying the groundwork for a $20 million tax-increase request to fund a new clubhouse.
The Bensenville Park District is joining with the Chicago Wolves to offer a ticket package that includes a green-level ticket, hot dog, soft drink and knit cap and provides $4.50 per ticket to benefit the Bensenville Community Foundation.
Police said Officer Steven Kotlewski was shot eight times in his leg, back and arm after responding to a domestic dispute between a mother and son on Nov. 6. When officers arrived, prosecutors say Kotlewski, 38 and a father of three, was seen crawling to a stairwell. Police say he never drew his own gun.
Marengo Park District hires director of parks operations

The Marengo Park District voted to enter into a consulting agreement with Dr. Dan Bertrand to function as their Director of Park Operations effective Feb. 1.
Bertrand will replace Joe Vallez whose contract expires on Jan. 31. Vallez has been with Marengo Parks as an employee and consultant for five years.
Bertrand is currently a co-principal at Zion Lutheran School in Marengo and was the superintendent of Marengo Community High School District 154 from 2005 until retiring in 2016. Prior to that he held various leadership positions at Aurora University, University of Illinois-Springfield, Northern Illinois University and Kaneland High School. Bertrand also served as linebacker coach at Illinois State University, defensive coordinator, strength coach and recruiting coordinator at Quincy University and was the assistant head varsity coach at Olympia High School in Stanford, Illinois
