Some “pretty significant” outdoor recreation projects are coming to Redstone Arsenal, thanks to the installation’s participation in the Resilient Energy Funding for Readiness and Modernization program.
Joe Davis says that Redstone Arsenal has given him much more than he has given back. Many members of its workforce â both current and former â would disagree.
After 38 years of federal service â 14 as the head of the Garrisonâs Directorate of Public Works â Davis is retiring to his farm in Hazel Green. Taking over as director will be longtime DPW team member Joey Skinner.
Davis has watched the landscape of Redstone change over his tenure â and played a pivotal part in its transformation. He was the project engineer for the Sparkman Center, eventually taking over as its project manager after the original manager, Sam Fields, was killed in a tractor accident.
