Land Bank pushes for brownfield funding By Kyle Shaner - kshaner@sidneydailynews.com SIDNEY – Money for cleaning up brownfield sites hasn’t been secured, but lawmakers seem to have noticed a push for funding from the Shelby County Land Reutilization Corp. and other groups. During Tuesday’s Land Bank meeting, Director Doug Ahlers said he’s been in contact with the Ohio Land Bank Association and the Western Reserve Land Conservancy about securing funding to clean up brownfield land, which is previously developed land that is not in use and might be contaminated. Among the sites the Shelby County Land Bank would like to see cleaned up is the former Wagner foundry in Sidney.

Mortgages released on Land Bank properties By Kyle Shaner - kshaner@sidneydailynews.com SIDNEY – The Neighborhood Initiative Program released three mortgages on properties owned by the Shelby County Land Reutilization Corp., which is making plans on what it will do with them moving forward. Director Doug Ahlers reported during the April 20 Land Bank meeting that the NIP released mortgages on properties at 45 E. Park St. in Fort Loramie, 224 Queen St. in Sidney and the former Miami Inn property at 500 N. Miami Ave. in Sidney. Procedures for the sale or disposal of the Land Bank’s properties are being reviewed, Ahlers said. Initial preparations were made in 2016 but will need to be updated.

Land Bank makes plans to demolish, sell proprieties By Kyle Shaner - kshaner@sidneydailynews.com SIDNEY – A property in Port Jefferson is set to be demolished and another in Sidney is going to be sold by the Shelby County Land Reutilization Corp. Director Doug Ahlers reported during the March 16 Land Bank meeting that the group has acquired a total of 93 units, 77 of which were demolished and 14 of which were sold. Three people have expressed interest in a property the Land Bank owns at 212 Sophia Ave. in Sidney. Ahlers said the Land Bank will look to sell the property, with other members supporting the idea of a sealed bid sale.
