A wealthy historic homes restoration expert has been hauled into court and convicted of breaking planning laws at his own Grade-II listed £1.5 million farmhouse.

John Evetts, 72 - a former council planning chairman and consultant at the Landmark Trust - jumped the gun after becoming frustrated with planning delays at his local council.

Frustrated locals in the pristine village of Toddington, ten miles east of Tewkesbury, have called artist Damien Hirsts Victorian gothic manor as an eyesore and a white blob.

Damien Hirst, 56, is facing increasing pressure from his neighbours to renovate Toddington Manor, which he bought in 2005. The home is still covered in scaffolding with renovations stalled.

The artist’s £3m Cotswolds pile, which has remained empty and unrenovated since 2005, has been described as an ‘eyesore’
