Nominations are now open for Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ (FDACS) Agricultural-Environmental Leadership Award. The industry honor has been presented since 1994 to recognize environmentally innovative Florida growers and ranchers. FDACS needs your help to find the next crop of honorees.

The following environmental practices will be considered in judging nominations for the 2021 Agricultural-Environmental Leadership Award:
Wildlife protection and Habitat Conservation: Provide a safe, vibrant habitat for wildlife within an agricultural operation.
Blueberry growers’ operating returns fell 32.4% between 2015 and 2019 because of rising imports.

The “Section 201” investigation was requested last year by the U.S. Trade Representative. The top U.S. blueberry imports are from Canada, Chile, Mexico and Peru. Under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada agreement, both Canada and Mexico have the ability to immediate impose retaliatory duties equal to the amount imposed by the United States.
