Longer days and warmer weather means more time outside in the North Country and not just for humans.
Ticks are back and local health authorities are advising two-legged residents to be aware of potentially serious health risks.
The Clinton County Health Department said in a written statement that it logged 163 cases of Lyme Disease in 2020, more than double the 63 cases recorded in 2019.
The illness is caused by a bacteria found in deer ticks and spread to humans via tick bite.
The insects are small, roughly the size of a sesame seed when full grown. Immature ticks are even smaller and can still spread disease.
