Power Rankings - Week 1: Veteran leadership and young guns show up this first week Share this story Scott Wachter-USA TODAY Sports Well, the new season is finally underway and the San Antonio Spurs came out of the gate running and gunning. The third game of the week saw a tough match up lead to a loss on a SEGABABA which should be viewed as a learning experience for the young core. Week 1: The San Antonio Spurs started the season with a fiesta - or at least wearing Fiesta jerseys in their ga...

It’s my term for a mid first round pick that just lands in a perfect situation for his skillset to shine. If Donovan Mitchell was drafted some other place, he could still either be bouncing around the G League or out of the league altogether. But the Jazz was a perfect combo of opportunity for the player and having a good surrounding cast as well. I think you might be right on Vassell, but if DeRozan is traded, then the opportunity is there. Plus, Keldon was a low 20s pick. Vassell is an...

Yikesaroonies. Things get a tiny bit easier after the 12th, but that’s still a really tough first full-month on the calendar. The good news is that playing tough opponents is not only a quality learning experience for young talent, but it is also a good way for this front office to do some serious (albeit early) evaluation of this young roster. Perhaps this January gauntlet can help them make some quick decisions on what the future of the Bulls might hold. I digress, though, the point of this...

Our scribes chime in on the most significant move since the bubble. From NBA.com Staff Giannis Antetokounmpo’s extension lets the Bucks focus all their energy on winning a title. * * * * * * Milwaukee re-upping Giannis Antetokounmpo. Same guy, same place, but an entirely different vibe and future for both the two-time MVP and the Bucks. They can concentrate on the business of chasing an NBA championship not just this season but for several years to come. Heck, imagine the fretting and edgines...

The 2020-21 Denver Nuggets have the best center in the game, a top-five motivator and a breakout star in the making. That is prevailing thought according to general managers around the NBA, who had high praise for Nikola Jokić, Michael Malone, Michael Porter Jr.   Jokić, who has made back-to-back All-NBA teams in the last season, edged the Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis as the No. 1 center in the NBA. The Serbian received 50 percent of the vote as compared to Davis’ 43 percent. The ...

2020-2021 Memphis Grizzlies Player Preview: Jonas Valanciunas Share this story Underrated. Disrespected. Crucial. Those are three words that can be used to describe Memphis Grizzlies center Jonas Valanciunas. The fact that the eight-year vet didn’t crack ESPN’s Top 100 players heading into the season is disrespectful and laughable. There is no way there are 100 guys in the league better than Valanciunas. Last offseason, the Grizzlies re-signed the big man to a three-year deal. He rewarded ...
