Twitters former security head claims company misled regulators about bot accounts

Peiter Zatko, Twitter's ex-top security official, revealed that Twitter's CEO asked him to lie to the company's board about security issues and manipulate data.

The Union government, facing ‘intense protests’, made the social media company put a person on its payroll, the former Twitter security chief claimed.

Twitter Inc misled federal regulators about its defenses against hackers and spam accounts, the social media companys former security chief Peiter Zatko said in a whistleblower complaint.

Twitter whistleblower Peiter "Mudge" Zatko claims the company's cybersecurity practices were poor and reckless.

The claims come as Twitter is locked in a legal battle with Elon Musk, who is trying to back out of a deal to buy the platform.

Zatko says Twitter allegedly deceived regulators about hacker defenses and was forced by the Indian government to put agents on the company payroll.

Lawmakers have already begun to lash out at the company over the allegations.
