CREDIT: Washington Post photo by Nikki Kahn Four northern Virginia school systems are declaring in court their support for the rights of transgender students, weighing in on a landmark case involving a teenager embroiled in a years-long legal fight over his attempt to use the boys restroom at his high school. The school boards in the cities of Alexandria and Falls Church, and Fairfax and Arlington counties, said last month in court papers that they stand behind Gavin Grimm, a transgender teen who sued the school board in Gloucester County, Virginia, after he was barred from the boys restroom.

Falls Church Schools Staff To Be Vaccinated On Monday

(Shutterstock) FALLS CHURCH, VA All of the Falls Church City Public Schools staff are set to be vaccinated after they became eligible in Virginia s phase 1b of COVID-19 vaccinations. FCCPS spokesperson John Wesley Brett said in an email that some staff are part of the Fairfax County Public Schools vaccinations with Inova Health System. However, the majority of FCCPS teachers and staff will receive their first dose on Monday, Jan. 18 at the new George Mason High School. The Fairfax County Health Department will set up and conduct vaccinations at the school, which will cover the entire FCCPS staff of just over 500. The two COVID-19 vaccinations available in the U.S. require two doses, with the second taken three to four weeks later.
