The 17th death Anniversary of Mr H. P Gooneratne fell on the 9th of December 9,2020 and it is with deep gratitude that we remember him, the Founder Chairman of HelpAge Sri Lanka.
Gooneratne was a dedicated social worker who was devoted to the cause of serving those in need. One of his most laudable achievements was establishing the charitable organization HelpAge Sri Lanka (HASL) in 1986. He along with John F. Pearson, who was a council member of HelpAge international, and a group of Gooneratne’s friends formed the first Board of HASL.
