Crack on Baguio s Lion can be mended | The Manila Times

BAGUIO CITY: The City Buildings and Architecture Office (CBAO) under architect Johnny Degay has reported that the crack found on the iconic Lion s Head monument along Kennon Road was found to be nonstructural and therefore does not threaten the structural integrity of the structure. Engineer Frederick Dulo of the CBAO building management division said an inspection of the crack lower right jaw of the statue when coming up to the Summer Capital showed that the crack is only on the surface and did not extend to the structure s interiors. He said the CBAO was scheduled to undertake the patching and painting work of the damage Friday, June 9. The Baguio City Host Lions Club reportedly said it will undertake the restoration of the monument to ensure its integrity.
