QPR FC Women came from behind twice to seal the Capital Women’s Cup 2021, courtesy of a dramatic penalty shootout on Tuesday evening.
In front of a sold out Bedfont Sports Club, Roschelle Shakes gave our opponents an early lead. But a Demi Edwards strike late in the first half ensured Rangers went into the break level. Meila D’Santos restored Actonians lead, however a late Ellie Searle penalty kick for the R’s meant the tie would be decided by penalties.
In a topsy turvy shootout, captain Vicky Grieve stepped up and converted the decisive spot kick, sealing the title for Rangers.

QPR FC Women’s booked their place in the semi-finals of the Capital Women’s County Cup, with an emphatic 6-1 victory over local rivals Denham United this weekend.
An early Jenny Moore double and then strikes from Ellie Searle, Katie Akerman, Milly Cutler and Demi Edwards respectively, ensured Rangers returned to action in style after almost four months away.
The R’s who haven’t played a competitive match since December, started brightly with Mollie Dench quickly threatening the Denham backline.
And with only six minutes on the clock, Steve Quashie’s side were ahead.
