This weekend, we will be performing “A Ten by Ten Beauty Parlor”, directed by Zhang JiaHe in affiliation with the Central Academy of Drama.
About the performance:
A fragment of life in a ten-by-ten family-owned beauty parlor, a group of people united by “death”, and a deep exploration of love.
Mother Sun Yin runs a beauty salon with her biological daughter (Shan), four adopted daughters (Er Jie, Meng Meng, Sun Sun, and Hua), and part-timer Ha Ha. An accident renders Sun Yin into a vegetative state and puts the already struggling family into desperation. Fighting to survive, everyone wrangles between their dreams and the reality they must face, falling into chaos as a new month’s payment day approaches. At the same time, customers of the beauty salon, Se He and Xue Yu, also face a choice between life and death.
Join Penghao Theatre for the 11th Annual Beijing NanLuoGuXiang Performing Arts Festival! Next on our lineup is
We Are Out of Colored Beverages, a coming-of-age play directed by Du Fu Hao Tian and Liu Wen.
About the play:
At the conclusion of a drama workshop, a 5-pixel shot of a colored beverage was discovered at the corner of a photograph, sparking widespread discussion. Some members of the group said that only children consumed colored beverages and adults only drank boiled water, so the 5-pixel object could not have been a colored drink. But why have our sense of taste become so dull as we grow older? Why have colored beverages slowly disappeared from our lives? Why, knowing the health benefits of plain water, do we still crave the colored drink? We sincerely invite third-party commentators to watch this production of “We Are Out of Colored Beverages” and answer our questions. Remember not to bring food and non-colored beverages to the venue!
