NATO: After NATO frustration, West offers Ukraine security commitments
President Zelenskys hopes to join NATO have been dashed at the alliances summit. However, Western powers will issue a declaration of long-term security commitments and pledge help to Kyiv to defeat Russia and deter new aggression. Zelensky will hold symbolic talks with NATOs 31 leaders at their summit in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius.
