A free public forum on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (AHCA) will be held at the Plaza Conference Center, 211 East 9th Street, Carson City, NV on Tuesday, August 28 at 5:30 P.M.

Good morning Carson City and welcome to the last day of winter. It is Tuesday, March 19, 2019. Expect mostly sunshine and cloudy skies today as a weather system is expected to move into the region later tonight bringing rain showers to the lower valleys and some snow to the Sierra for the first day of Spring.

Many celebrations are scheduled throughout the Silver State in the month of September. These Nevada 150 events celebrate all things Nevada and help bring awareness to the 150th Anniversary of Statehood. The following events are held Sept. 15 through 30.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this time every year touches the heart of one of the teachers at CHS: Art teacher Mike Malley, whose mother is a breast cancer survivor, due to early detection, has decided to take breast cancer awareness to a new level by putting on a fundraising event Oct. 18 at the Trimmer Barn from 5 to 8 p.m.

Parks 4 Paws will hold its annual Bark, Wine and Dine on Saturday, May 1, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Fuji Park Events Building, 601 Old Clear Creek Road, in Carson City. Mayor Bob Crowell will host the event. Join Parks 4 Paws for an evening of food, drinks, dancing and fun. There will be live music and a silent auction.

UPDATE: The Wyndham Garden hotel in Carson City, connected with Max Casino and the Black Bear Diner, is now the Federal Hotel, which will be part of the Choice Hotels brand. According to General Manager Michael Newberger, Choice Hotels rebranded the hotel at 900 South Carson Street and the name change, which went into effect on Dec. 18.

The next Sierra Nevada Forum, scheduled for Wednesday, March 13 at 6 p.m. inside the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall at 511 West King Street, will feature a discussion about the Electoral College and the national popular vote.
