The Defense Digital Service (DDS), the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) and the office of the Chief Data Officer (CDO) would all report up to a new individual, tentatively named the Chief Data & AI Officer.

A memo from the deputy defense secretary also orders the JAIC director to build a strategy around those tenets.

Kathleen Hicks also designated the JAIC director to lead a working council charged with writing a responsible AI strategy.
