JOLIET, IL It s been six months since the Joliet City Council flexed its muscles and voted to make the
Gulf Express at 212 South Larkin Ave. a public nuisance. The Joliet gas station is owned by
Samer Farhan, according to city records. The property has been vacant and boarded for over six months, a Joliet City Council memo from last September read.
Now that Joliet s City Council has taken action against Gulf, things are pretty much the same.

The Dock at Inwood was busy Tuesday night and most of the crowd was coming for
Warren Dorris political fund-raiser. Dorris served on the Joliet City Council from 1987 until 2011 when he lost his bid for mayor. Now, a decade later, Dorris is back, and he s energized about the April 6 elections. The support we re getting is pretty phenomenal, from Kendall County all the way to Briggs Street, as east and west as you can go, we re getting support, Dorris told Joliet Patch s editor at Tuesday night s kickoff event for his council race.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot attended a Joliet City Council meeting Thursday night in hopes of hammering out an agreement to supply Joliet with its drinking water for several decades into the future.
During the special meeting, the Joliet City Council heard from Lightfoot as well as the mayor of Hammond, Indiana, in separate presentations. Hammond and Chicago are in competition with one another to become Joliet s future drinking water supplier.
