Bail was set at $750,000 Belgrade man who is accused of shooting at a detective during a high-speed chase last week.
Jon Binkley is charged with attempted deliberate homicide, a felony, for shooting a gun at a Gallatin County detective during a car chase that began in Belgrade and ended with an hours-long standoff in Powell County.
The detective was not injured.
Last Wednesday, Belgrade police officers responded to a report of domestic violence, where a woman told them that Binkley confronted her while he had a pistol in a holster on his chest. Court documents say that Binkley broke the womanâs computer and threw her on the ground, then left before officers arrived.

BUTTE â Multiple agencies were involved in the chase of a man suspecting of shooting at law enforcement in Belgrade, which ended in his arrest over 130 miles away.
âWe got word about 12:30 last night that a male driving a pickup with a trailer had been involved in a pursuit situation in Gallatin County and had fired at an officer,â said Butte Sheriff Ed Lester.
The suspect drove into Butte early Thursday morning and a local officer located the man in his truck parked at Elm and Home streets. A police pursuit ensued in town, which continued on Interstate 90 westbound. Anaconda police deployed a device to deflate one of the fleeing vehicleâs tires, but the chase continued at high speeds.
