Bramble will create a unique virtual space for FAI s global network to gather during the festival.by BWW News Desk
Folk Alliance International has announced its partnership with Bramble, a new fluid video platform for online gatherings. Together, the organizations will secure the future of folk by bringing its global community online together for live music and critical fundraising to support the industry, which is in dire need due to COVID-19 and the cancellation of in-person events.
To kick-off this innovative year-long partnership, Bramble will create a unique virtual space for FAI s global network to gather during Folk Unlocked, a five-day virtual conference with panels, workshops, showcases, peer group meetings, exhibit spaces, networking, and mentorship from February 22 to February 26, 2021.
PERSONNEL-HEAVY English folk band Bellowhead walked away decisively from live performances in 2016 with a sell-out show at the London Palladium – so they were keen to portray this global concert stream as nothing more than a one-off reunion, organised to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their successful third album, Hedonism.
Operating together under “strict Covid-safe conditions” in Stabal Mansion near Epping Forest, their hour-long, 15-song set was, naturally, based around songs from Hedonism, although there were excursions into other albums.
While the feel and subject matter of their roustabout material makes their recorded work rather samey, when it comes to the live experience there’s no doubting they know how to hit the spot.
