Rhode Island's new shark license plates are now available.

More than 7,000 Rhode Island drivers have ordered the special charity plates, which will help support the Atlantic Shark Institute in Wakefield.

The Atlantic Shark Institute (ASI) and the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced Monday they will hold a distribution event this weekend for the “shark” passenger and combination license plates pre-ordered by Rhode Islanders.

Some shark license plates will be available for pick up next weekend.
