Two seats on the School Board were also up for grabs, but only one candidate had their name officially on the ballot.

The festival honors the rich tradition of Maine’s historic apple industry. It’s the first and only event of its kind in the state.

“Both Lucille and Tracy bring valuable talent, passion, and energy to our board and I’m excited to have them as part of our team,” commented Jon Stein, current board vice president.

With three open council seats, voters have a choice of candidates, all of whom want a hand in building a better city for residents, although their paths forward vary.

The Ellsworth American asked each aspiring councilor why he or she is running and what are the biggest challenges facing the city.
