A gunman has shot and killed eight people shopping at a mall north of Dallas, Texas, emergency services say.

Police said they shot the gunman dead and believe he acted alone.

At least nine people, including the attacker, were killed in a shooting at an outlet mall near Dallas and seven injured persons were undergoing treatment, The New York Times reported citing officials on Saturday night.

The suspect was shot and killed by a responding officer who was at the mall on an unrelated call, police said.
