May 3, 2021 Before the ferry Adirondack arrived in Lake Champlain in 1954, it operated as the Gov. Emerson C. Harrington II along the eastern Chesapeake Bay. The ship was built and named the South Jacksonville in 1913. It was sold in 1921, re-christened the Mount Holly and plied the Delaware River until 1927, and then the East River along New York City until 1938.
