In solemn recognition of more than a year having passed since the military coup of 1 February 2021 responsible for ousting the democratically elected government in Myanmar, the ITF applauds the United States, United Kingdom and Canada for imposing sanctions last week on some of Myanmar’s top military officials.
The United States has led international efforts to promote accountability for human rights violations and abuses the regime has inflicted on the people of Burma.
WASHINGTON: The United States, Britain and Canada on Monday imposed sanctions against additional officials in Myanmar, in measures timed to mark one year since the military seized power and plunged the country into chaos. A joint action by the three nations, who have all already imposed sanctions
