The iconic Flatiron Building is going up for auction for the second time in three months Tuesday, capping months of limbo following an aborted first sale in March and years of drama among its current owners.

On May 23, the 121-year-old building will return to a court-ordered auction for a price the partners hope will be more easily reached.

Last month, an auction looked to clear up debates over the ownership of the landmark structure, but the sale only complicated the situation. 

The Flatiron Building was sold at auction on March 22, having sat empty since 2019. But the buyer failed to pay the deposit and has since pulled out. The current deed owner does not want to pay the price.
