The year 2020 was great for Associate Professor of English Literature at Lone Star College Roger Rodriguez as he not only penned his first novel “The Long Way to Mexico” but also helped edit a book for one of the primary members of the family of pop icon Selena Quintanilla.
As part of an editing team chosen for a new book by the family’s patriarch Abraham Quintanilla, Rodriguez helped edit the book as it nears publication. According to Rodriguez, the working title of the book is “A Father’s Dream.” However, he is not sure if Quintanilla intends to keep that title or if it is just tentative.

President Joe Biden took the oath of office on Wednesday with a slew of challenges and problems he will have to face head on as commander in chief. The most pressing problem many Laredoans hope the new president tackles directly is the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although a politician alone cannot bring an end to the global pandemic that has caused more than 400,000 deaths in the country and more than 560 deaths in Webb County, policies could be enacted to help mitigate the pandemic to some extent.
