Vaccination sites began accepting walk-ins on Wednesday for the Sinopharm vaccine for certain categories of people, but were overwhelmed by the numbers. “It was terrible,” said Nanack Mulkhraj, who was at the St Joseph Enhanced Health Centre in Mt Hope with his neighbour Samaroo Padatath since 6.30am. “It wasn’t planned. (But) we have to fight up with it.”

Vaccination with WHO Approved Sinopharm COVID-19 Vaccine Begins on Friday 21 May, 2021 Port of Spain, 19 May 2021: Members of the public are advised that the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout will continue from  Friday 21 May, 2021. 50,000 eligible persons will be vaccinated with the World Health Organisation (WHO) approved Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine, which was manufactured by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products Co. Limited. This vaccine is a 2 shot vaccine given          3 to 4 weeks apart. Globally, 65 million doses of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine have already been administered through various emergency use programmes. All persons who fall within the Phase 1 of the national COVID-19 Vaccine Deployment Plan, as indicated below, are eligible to receive the vaccine at this time:

Continuation of the National COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout Port of Spain, 1 May 2021: Members of the public are advised that the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout will continue on Monday 3 rd May 2021. All persons who fall within the Phase 1 of the national COVID-19 Vaccine Deployment Plan, as indicated below, are  eligible to receive the vaccine,: healthcare workers persons between 60 and 18 years of age with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) The public is reminded that the following groups of persons should  not take the COVID-19 vaccine at this time: Pregnant and breastfeeding women People with a history of severe reactions to a component in the vaccine

File photo by Angelo Marcelle The first phase of TT’s covid19 vaccination programme will begin today and the Prime Minister and Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh are scheduled to receive the first dose of one of the 33,600 does of AstraZeneca vaccines. Deyalsingh will receive his first dose at 3 pm at the St. Joseph Enhanced Health Centre, Uriah Butler Highway, Champs Fleurs. The Prime Minister is also expected to receive his first dose of the vaccine at the Scarborough Health Centre in Tobago. In a television interview on Monday, Deyalsingh said of the vaccination roll-out, “So tomorrow (Tuesday) is probably the most significant day in the history of the public health system in TT where we try to get a handle on this pandemic.”
