ST. JOSEPH TOWNSHIP, Mich. â Community members are invited to take part in the 38th annual National Night Out at Maiden Lane Community Park on Tuesday, Aug. 3, the St. Joseph Township Police Department tells us.
National Night Out is a countrywide event devoted to preventing drugs and crime.
Participants are asked to lock their doors and turn on their exterior lights while interacting with police and neighbors from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The event will include a demonstration of the Jaws of Life, a helicopter landing, and a showcase of various emergency vehicles and equipment, according to St. Joseph police.

Police investigate a break-in at an Ace Hardware By: Donavan Barrier
When officers arrived, they discovered damage to the front entry doors of the business.
They obtained surveillance footage, which reportedly identified two suspect vehicles and nine suspects.
One of the suspect vehicles was located a few hours later at a Benton Harbor gas station.
Two suspects were detained and arrested on charges related to the incident, officials say.
The suspects’ names are being withheld because they are juveniles.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department says two arrests have been made in the Saturday morning burglary of the Ace Hardware store in St. Joseph. The department has released the following:
At approximately 5:57 a.m. on January 30, 2021, officers from the St. Joseph Township Police Department, assisted by St. Joseph Department of Public Safety and Michigan State Police, responded to the scene of Ace Hardware, located at 2360 Niles Rd. in St. Joseph Township in relation to an alarm activation.
Upon arrival at the scene, responding officers discovered damage to the front entry doors of the business, indicating that entry had been made. Officers conducted further investigation and obtained surveillance video footage from the store, which identified two suspect vehicles and 9 suspects on camera causing damage and entering the store.
