Blackwater Railroad Company has experienced many iterations since its inception more than a decade ago. The group first began as a community band in Seward, Alaska, a deep-water harbor, port city, and gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park. As members have come and gone, they ve evolved from an Alaskana string band to a full-on American roots-rock outfit.
The best concert three musicheads may have ever seen was Fred Eaglesmith at The Fabulous Westward Ho March 20, 1997, just a few weeks before the disastrous flood. A look back at that night and the rising Grand Forks arts scene before the flood changed everything. Plus, music from Ana Egge, a singer-songwriter from the now nearly deserted Ambrose, North Dakota; and Juneau, Alaska-based artist Josh Fortenbery.
Episode 105 features Alaska musicians The Heists and Josh Fortenbery, Americana musician Nathan Graham, and folk band Large Brush Collection. Plus, a Throwing Rocks feature on the Minot Curling Club.
