Back in the 1970s, the British comedy troupe Monty Python would often dryly announce, “and now for something completely different.” Well, not much is different about the revival of “Monty Python’s Spamalot,” the musical that’s based on their 1975 film “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” that opened Thursday night at the St. James Theatre. It’s more or less the same as it was when it premiered 18 years ago, only not as special or exciting.
Spamalot opens on Broadway tonight, and it's safe to say the Middle Ages haven't been this funny since, well, the last time Spamlot opened on Broadway nearly 20 years ago.
The Laurie Beechman Theatre will present Lorna Dallas in her latest musical feast, “Glamorous Nights and Rainy Days,” in a two-night engagement - Saturday, May 13 and Wednesday, May 17 - both shows at 7pm.
