Woman assaulted by colleague after staff Christmas party in Leitrim

A woman was assaulted by a work colleague who punched her in the face following a staff Christmas party in Carrick-on- Shannon.
Appearing in the local District Court on November 27 was Sandra Rozenfelde, 37 Sherwood Park, Mullingar, Co Westmeath who pleaded guilty to assault causing harm to Hazel Brehony, Cluainfada, Leitrim PO, Carrick-on- Shannon on January 5, 2019 at the Courtyard Apartments, Main St, Carrick-on- Shannon.
The defendant, however, contested an allegation in respect of a bite injury the victim said she sustained.
Ms Brehony told the court that on January 4, 2019 Murtagh s and Moon River staff Christmas Party took place.
A doctor who punched a fellow doctor, breaking his colleague s finger, has been told to pay €2,000 in compensation for the assault.
Muhmammad Fahad of Store Street, Tullamore, Co Offaly appeared before Sligo District Court where he denied assaulting a former colleague, Asif Anwar.
Dr Anwar told the court that on June 11th he contacted Dr Fahad who he knew from previously working with him at Sligo University Hospital. Dr Anwar was to do two days of locum cover in Sligo and asked Fahad if he could stay at his apartment.
Two days later on his way to Sligo he texted Dr Fahad to confirm, however, Fahad said he was in Dublin.
Judge tells Leitrim couple it s a ‘wonder that they had not been eaten up by rats’

A District Court Judge has told a County Leitrim couple that it was a “wonder that they had not been eaten up by rats.”
Judge Kevin Kilrane made the remark after looking at photographs of black bin bags of rubbish that had burst outside the home of Brian and Eileen Ward in Oak Grove, in Kinlough.
The judge said he was amazed at how people could live in the midst of such filth.
The couple pleaded guilty to charges under the Litter and Waste Management Acts.
