Prime Minister Boris Johnson (left) and Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer (2nd left) walk through the Central Lobby
The Government’s legislative agenda for the new Parliament has been set out in the Queen’s Speech.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson billed it as a plan for “unleashing our nation’s full potential” during the recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.
While focus will in part fall on what the plan lacks – such as measures to address the social care funding crisis – here is a brief look at the legislation announced by No 10:
We will deliver a national recovery from the pandemic that makes the United Kingdom stronger, healthier and more prosperous than before. #QueensSpeechpic.twitter.com/4DJOXnjWec

Govt means business on public sector pensions reform
By Jean-Baptiste Andrieux 11
The government has flagged its intention to reform pensions for public sector workers.
The Public Service Pensions and Judicial Offices Bill announced in the Queen’s Speech aims to give greater certainty regarding their benefit entitlements.
It also aims to ensure public servants will make informed choices at retirement and continue to be rewarded for their dedicated service.
The bill intends to fix the discrimination against younger pension schemes members that stemmed from the pension reforms introduced in 2015.
The government had reformed public sector pensions schemes, so that pensions would be calculated on the average salary throughout an individual’s career rather than on the final salary.
