When city officials, donors and other dignitaries gather next month for the grand opening of the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts (AMFA), it will be the biggest thing to happen in downtown Little Rock since the Clinton Presidential Center opened in November 2004. Bridges, therefore, were among the most pressing infrastructure needs of 19th-century Arkansas.
