Advocates see Island Way extension as way to end traffic jams Island Way now ends at Indiantown Road just east of its intersection with I-95. In its path south of Indiantown is a two-lane road named 68th Terrace North that runs just west of the Kennedy Estates neighborhood. The proposed extension would cross Indiantown, then would turn west onto 174th Street North and south on 173rd Street North before moving onto a new road that would be built on vacant land. It would extend about two-thirds of a mile, cutting behind businesses on Capital Street and then connecting with Jupiter Park Drive, home to the Jupiter Park of Commerce.

This topic was first breached, and the ordinance initiated, at the April 13 Town Council meeting. Specifically, the ordinance designates all town roads and streets within Blocks 1 through 4 of the subdivision, beginning above the 2000 Block of Wildridge Road (south of the intersection of Wildridge Road and Old Trail Road).
