The US and US Coast Guard flags at the Juneau International Airport on Wednesday. (Kevin Allen/KINY) Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - In recognition of the United States Coast Guard’s birthday today, the Juneau International Airport is flying the Coast Guard flag on the airport terminal’s flag pole array.
News of the North spoke with Airport Deputy Manager Scott Rinkenberger, about the recognition. Today August 4 is the annual birthday of the Coast Guard, and we are flying that flag to basically recognize the service and sacrifice of the Coast Guard service members and their veterans, he said.
He said they have plans for future branch birthdays.
